You can now have multiple accounts at once!

Click the main menu (on the circle on the top right), and hit “switch accounts” (it’ll say “Login” if you have no accounts). You’ll be able to add accounts and switch between them on the sidebar or through that page.

BTW, it appears that the backend for comments was broken for 0.18.3: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1999 and https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3767

So our workaround from 5 days ago wasn’t without merit.

Looks like there is a slight issue: after logging in for the first time, the front page is blank until you refresh or go from say communities and back. Not a big deal, but could be confusing to users.

I was going to ask if you were planning to make an app version of Photon, but I realized that may be a dumb question since this can be installed as a PWA.

If you don’t mind answering, what are the advantages and disadvantages between a native Android/iOS Lemmy app and a Lemmy PWA

I personally love the look of what you have going on here and would like to continue supporting it.

Advantages of a PWA are:

  • can use native os features and app data is stored locally
  • the desktop website and PWA are the exact same
  • even if phtn.app is offline, you can still use Photon
  • same codebase
  • I don’t know how to make android apps lol
