My only criticism is the subscription fee instead of a one off charge for the full set of features. I would like a lot of them but I donโt need cloud sync or another ongoing cost to worry about.
Iโve just pushed beta 25 which adds the option to remove the ads as a one time purchase.
Hopefully theyโll approve the update within the next 24 hours
Does it just remove the ads visualization or actually disables all related data collection and tracking?
Iโm pretty sure analytics is optional even if you didnโt pay a dime but feel free to correct me on that
Lemmy doesnโt. The app might. I donโt use sync but if Iโm an app developer I could make money plugging advertisements into my app. If I design the UI well enough, and make the ads unobtrusive, I might just make enough money and not piss anyone off.
He wrote in another thread there will be a lifetime price for us who hates subscriptions. Itโs coming.
Thatโs good to know. I bought several Reddit apps over my 15 year history with the site, I donโt have a problem supporting developers but I absolutely hate the subscription model. It feels like letting a colony of ticks leech off of you when literally EVERYONE is doing it.
It better be coming within the 20th of August, cause thatโs when my Google rewards balance is expiring.

For as long as I can remember Reddit and Sync have been one and the same. I never used Reddit website or app, only ever used Sync to browse Reddit hosted content. I used it a lot. Iโve missed it a lot.
Between the Lemmy platform and Sync client, to all intents and purposes what Reddit was has been fully restored/migrated.
I know itโs early days, but I did not expect to see anything like this so soon and it gives me hope that Lemmy can grow and thrive into the network of people that always made Reddit what it was. Everything thatโs needed is there - early, a little rough around the edges, but there. And being improved constantly.

I feel this so much. First had jerboa there and then liftoff. No shade to either of those but having sync back is just so great.
