One thing that I always felt was off with Sync for Reddit and now Lemmy is that you go through initial set up before you even get a chance to sign in. After signing in, it asks you to do the initial set up again, otherwise it resets to default.
Obviously a one time issue, but I would love to have the option to first sign in when you launch the app then proceed with initial set up, and then, if you sign in later, rather than running setup again or going back to default, give the option to just keep the settings you already have entered.
I know there are probably a lot of other things to fix with moving over to Lemmy right now so low priority, but just a thought on an improvement that could be made. So glad to have sync back, worth every penny of Ultra
Same, odd to go through it twice. Or at the very least, copy any setup settings to the first login if within a certain amount of time perhaps?
You can back up your anonymous profile and restore it in your signed in one. Yet another amazing feature of Sync.
I had to dig and dig through settings to even find a way to sign in! One of the first things I tried was to tap on the lemming icon on the top left, but nothing happened the first time! If I tap on an icon to configure instance settings, it should take me to a sign-in form rather than just tell me Iβm not signed in.
I ALREADY KNOW THAT
LET ME IIIIINNNNN
I ran across the same issue. I was able to resolve by backing up my anon profile and restoring it into my signed in profile.
Settings shortcut: Settings > Backup
I had issues signing in during my first time, it took about 15 minutes due to some server issues. So it may not be the best solution to prompt sign in now that Lemmy isnβt stable yet.
