I’m curious how this community budgets for Christmas gifts? If you lump sum it, how do you make sure you spend the right amount on everyone?

I treat Christmas like I treat birthdays. Have a Christmas category and each person gets a goal. Also budget for unexpected expenses like extra food, wrapping papers, etc. Once I spend the money, I put it under gifts with #Christmas #Person so I can have a clean report, but can drill down with a seach if I need to. Here is my breakdown.

  • Discretionary
    • Gifts
  • Christmass
    • Spouse
    • Kiddo
    • Fido
    • Cooked goose for everyone
    • Misc. Make the Magic
    • We forgot Kevin!

Ooh what a great idea! I am definitely stealing this method, right down to whoever Kevin is!
