Hey Im wondering if anyone has had luck using a little portable recorder or microphone to record a live show. Im going to a show coming up and last time I had my camera and recorder with me but the guy at the entrance didnt seem confident they would let me in with it when I asked. So I left it in the car and regretted the quality of the audio from my phone recording. the band was fine with being recorded.

anyways later on I sold that recorder and mic and now am going to go see that band again soon and would like to plug in a recorder on my phone to get some better audio, has anyone here done something like this? I think I would just need a mic that had the option to lower the volume a bit, I was looking at this little guy Rode videomicro
