Dickens is pretty brutal about greedy capitalist scum, really, with the story of Tiny Tim, fileting one bean, dying from lack of health care - and somehow it became iconic to the season while the vast majority of people seem to have missed the point.

I’m so poor this year I want Santa to bring me coal so I can heat my room!

It’s not really that bad - but I still support these ghosts.

Relying on the supernatural to get a bit less exploited instead of seizing the means of Christmas ghosts magic & forcing equity.

Union contracts typically contain the Christmas Ghost Magic T&C’s and ritual instructions. Talk to your local chapter to get more info.

This is where I recommend the best version of A Christmas Carol: Scrooged.

I’d call it a tie and host a double feature.

The one thing it retains from the story that no other adaptation has is a narrator.

What year did it come out or can you link the IMDb page? I’m having troubles finding it amongst all the other Christmas Carols.

  1. One of Bill Murray’s best. I watch it every holiday and it never gets old.

It brought up the Spanish version of IMDB for me. The name of the movie in Spanish is “Los fantasmas atacan el jefe” The ghosts attack the boss. That seems like a good take on the original.

Why not just terrorize the rich into not existing?

Bringing back the traditional practice of wassailing might be a good first step. No figgy pudding and drinks? Drag them out into the street and break their shit.

Wassailing was associated with rowdy bands of young men who would enter the homes of wealthy neighbours and demand free food and drink (in a manner similar to the modern children’s Halloween practice of trick-or-treating). If the householder refused, he was usually cursed, and occasionally his house was vandalized. The example of the exchange is seen in their demand for “figgy pudding” and “good cheer”, i.e., the wassail beverage, without which the wassailers in the song will not leave; “We won’t go until we get some, so bring some out here”.Such complaints were also common in the early days of the United States, where the practice (and its negative connotations) had taken root by the early 1800s; it led to efforts from the American merchant class to promote a more sanitized Christmas.

Yeah, Christmas is the cheerful time when you celebrate your love for thy neighbour. That of course means buying more shit from the “merchant class”, not demanding that they participate in the society they robbed to grow rich.
