Supporting Evidence

Constantine (2005) - Logo swept away by the fires of hell
The Simpsons (2007) - Ralph Wiggum trumps out the fanfare
Scott Pilgrim (2010) - Universal logo rendered as 8-bit animation
Pitch Perfect (2012) - Universal theme sung a cappella
Upgrade (2018) - Studio credits read by ominous System Shock type voice
Bob’s Burgers (2022) - altered FOX fanfare audio.
Spider-Men in Spider-Verses (2018/2023) - Multiversal glitches

Hypothesis

Film makers invested so much in their own product that they’ve got around to thinking about how the studio credits play out are dedicated to making a good movie

Criteria (edited)

Due to eligibility requirements (published separately), some films have had to be excluded. These include The Flintstones (1994), Waterworld (1995), Matrix Resurrections (2021) and Tomorrowland (2015). I am however confident that these exclusions don’t affect the validity of my theory, and am confident in going forward.

Have you seen a film with transformed credits that was actually dog pops?
If not, I’ll go work this up and submit it to the relevant journals.

May I present the Universal (Univershell. Ugh.) logo from the 1994 Flintstones movie, one of the worst, if not the worst, movies I have ever had to sit through in a theater.

This is some very inconvenient evidence.

Matrix 4.

I think sometimes the studio thinks “this is going to be a massive movie, let’s pay someone to make a different studio credit to show how massive and special it is”, but all massive movies don’t end up being that special.

It’s worth a watch, but it is entirely forgettable. I remember exactly one scene from it and none of the plot.

I expected nothing of that movie, and I was still disappointed.

Evidence for: Constantine and JCVD Evidence against: Waterworld.

To be fair, though, the greatness of the Universal logo as a flooded world almost makes up for the whole movie. So yes, thesis proved.

Waterworld is a great movie. Not evidence against

It had some amazing stunt work. Plus Jack Black flew a plane.

Story was meh, but I like the camp in my movies. Especially campy dystopia.

But, I love The Postman.

I’m feeling sorry for all the people in this thread who saw Waterworld while being attacked by fire ants or something.

I have no other explanation for not adoring the masterpiece that is Waterworld.

Napoleon Dynamite, comes to mind. I love their intro credits!

Do Wes Anderson films count? I love how the cast is introduced in The Royal Tenenbaums.
