I know it sounds like a stupid thing to place so high in the car buying decision-making process, but I legitimately canceled my Silverado EV pre-order over GM dropping Android Auto / CarPlay. I think it’s an extremely short-sighted decision, and I want to vote with my wallet.

That doesn’t seem stupid to me. Considering how integrated these head units can be into the car making aftermarket upgrades less of an option, it makes perfect sense to me.

Yeahhhhh… the infotainment in the last GM vehicle I drove maybe 4-5 years ago had a UI that looked like it was designed by a drunk child, absolutely no useful functionality to speak of, and was slower than molasses in winter. I’ll believe their Carplay killer when I see it.

I don’t understand why these vehicle manufacturers want to push this so badly. But it looks like the industry is going that way, because more and more manufacturers are taking this stance. Sad…
