I’ll turn him into a flea

A harmless little flea

Then I’ll put that flea in a box

Put that box inside of another box

And then I’ll mail that box to myself

And when it finally arrives…

Option number 2

Rubber mallet is the softball of hammers

True that. Still, it was bent in such a way to have the volume buttons jammed up.

Proper fix would have taken like an hour to remove the touchscreen, disassemble it, bend it back straight, and reassemble it.

I looked at it and took my chances, knowing the touchscreen digitizer layer only cost $7 at the time. So I was like screw it, lemme try this cheap trick instead.

I put it face down on the bench, with a piece of paper to hopefully protect the screen. I put a piece of wood on the back side and smacked it with a mallet.

Worked perfectly, plus I got to go to lunch about an hour earlier.

Given the piece of wood I used to cushion the blow, I probably could have used a hammer instead 🤷‍♂️

It depends what we are hitting with a hammer. And is 2:02am the only time we do this?

Thanks to the magic of time zones, both the people advocating for and against hammer use and the observer all had different wall clock times

Then there’s the 2.5 people. The ones who would absolutely hit it with a hammer if they could just find one, so they use a wrench/pliars/screwdriver impotently, instead.
