From the developers of the critically acclaimed derided Terminator: Resistance and Rambo: The Video Game (as well 90(!) other games since 2006) comes another bizarrely timed nostalgia-arousing video game based on an 80s IP.
The gameplay clip here looked almost provocatively bad, but some hands-on previews seem…relatively positive. Hands-ons are always a little more soft on criticism though, so I’m gonna go with my gut on this one until proven otherwise.
The cut scenes were frustratingly slow and look outdated, but the gameplay didn’t seem that bad. Generic shooter with a RoboCop skin. I didn’t watch all of it, though because it was boring. I didn’t see anything that hasn’t been done before.
Shoot at everything thats targeted green and Robcop is almost invulnerable due to his armour. I watched a fair amount and it felt like someone was playing a shooter with a god mode cheat on. I’m quite disappointed now and you’re right, those cut scenes felt dated.
Ah, yeah, well… He’s RoboCop. At no point in any movie does he take cover or crouch, even when he’s taking damage or getting hit by trucks. https://piped.video/watch?v=w0p7VQojNIQ&t=363
Shooting bad guys while tanking their gunfire is basically the plot of the series.
I’d love to see a version of the game where you get a chance to rebuild him. Like he’s been deposwred and has to learn actual combat tactics, and he has to upgrade his weapons. And maybe he could fly through an impossible series of rings for some reason.
Actually, on second thought, that would probably suck too.
We already have cyberpunk 2077 which is really good right now
