Getting married in 2 days!!

AAAAAAAAAAA

I’m excited and stressed at the same time. It’s been such a ride and the day hasn’t even happened yet. Idk if I’ll be happier during or when it’s finally done. Either way, definitely looking forward to both the wedding day and to decompressing afterwards

Congrats! My wedding day was a blur. I remember the ceremony as a special little bubble and the rest as a bunch of noise and colours lol. I was so exhausted by the end of it.

I have some one of a kind family pictures out of it, and it was an invaluable reference point for getting to know (albeit briefly) a lot of people from my partner’s past.

I hyped you have a great day and subsequent relationship. :)

Congratulations to you and your spouse! If you’re doing a honeymoon after (or even if you’re not), I hope you both get some quality R&R!

It’s going very well, I discovered Lemmy and the rest of the fediverse and am once again excited for the future of technology!

Lonesome, been a bit moody. I’m not sure why. My best guess is that my work schedule is fucked this week and it’s made it harder to do food prep. Maybe I’m not eating as good.

Made a friend at work but now I’m feeling a little hesitant. I could tell they were a few years younger than me, but I checked their Discord bio and they’re 19. They invited me to join their D&D group and they’re all 19. The thought of being the oldest person at the table by 11 years and needing to be taught how to play is embarrassing. My best friend is ~15 years older than me and now I wonder if I ever make her feel like a grandma.

Other than that it’s all good. Chasing time due to work, but getting to the gym when I can. Getting some much needed work done around the house. I’m hoping getting the table cleared off and the craft supplies organized will get the creative juices flowing again.

The older I get, the more range in age of friends I have. I have friends in their 70s and in their 20s at this point. And you definitely shouldn’t feel embarrassed about learning something new when you’re older. How boring would it be to only know the same things we did when we were 20 for the rest of our lives?

No matter their age, if they’re good people they’ll be excited to teach you. Making friends definitely gets a bit weird as we get older, but I think there’s a lot of value in being able to relate to and appreciate people in different age groups. I hope if you end up going that you have a great time!

Diversity: it’s good for everybody! Also, it’s wise to get used to being taught new things by younger people, lest we become stuck in the past *shudders*.

Agreeing with the others, that kind of age difference is most awkward when you’re younger (like yourself), but goes away as you make more friends from hobbies and work, rather than school (which is more tied to certain ages ofc).

In reality, if you gel with them, and you don’t feel like you’re taking advantage, then all’s well. Maybe you’ll be the start of a “grey wave” (hehe) of older friends in this circle.

I think my body has not been dealing with stress well recently. It’s reacting in weird ways that are new to me.

I’ve been taking small wins as they come! I just need to hang on for another month and a bit and then I get to take some vacation time.

that’s a lot of books!!!

i was meant to go camping and biking on the new river trail in virginia this past weekend, but it looked like it was probably going to rain a lot of the time, so i stayed home. friday we went to a friend’s jam party. i went in the house to use the toilet, and every dog ran at me barking. one nipped me pretty bad in the thigh, but i can’t blame the dog since i didn’t have an escort with me and kinda assumed it would be okay to pop in and use the bathroom, oops.

saturday was a lazy day, which i haven’t had in a really long time. we ended up staying in and watching the first few episodes of fallout. didn’t want to be out late anywho because i did end up making plans for sunday…

rode the train to the next town over (about a 30 minute ride) on sunday morning, then biked back for a good 50 miles! still felt pretty good by the end of it, which is a good sign for the impending ~430 mile ride at the end of july. i’ve nearly biked more this year to date than i did all of last year. 😅

we went and saw the new apes movie (kingdom of the planet of the apes), and it was by far better than all the first three combined. more likable characters, better writing, and better acting. to be fair, i went in with very low expectations, but i think you could skip the first three, just watch this one, and it would be a decent movie.

not much in dog news. i did have a private lesson with a new trainer, and she was great! she sent me a detailed list of homework until i book with her again. :)

edit: also just got asked to speak at the local bike shop about bike camping next month!
