The background here is that I have been a web developer for over 20 years and I feel like I’m drifting dangerously close to burnout. A lot of my blog posts revolve around me exploring this topic and trying to figure out what to do about it.

That having been said, this is easily one of the most self-deprecating blog posts I have ever written. But on the off chance that somebody out there is in a similar spot, maybe sharing this will be helpful to them.

Don’t have much substantive to add, just want to point out that it’s really McNulty of you to have your username be JayLittle and identify with McNulty and not (Jay) Landsman or Omar (Little).

Hahahaha - I love that take. I always watch Omar and think of how different he is from me. As for Landsman, other than the weight problem, not a whole lot in common ;)

Love the “McNulty Spectrum”. I started out in corporate tech, but have been a lot happier at mission-centric orgs like libraries and research non-profits. The pay would be higher elsewhere, but rarely does a day go by that I believe my colleagues, and especially immediate manager, are not as into our work and mission as I am.

Yeah that’s definitely a direction that I need to start looking in. Thanks for the hint.
