I don’t think it concerns revanced because it uses a different package name as it cant install over the one shipped with android (not the same signature)

Hey, at least it’s “warn”, not “block”, right?

Right?

That’s how it starts.

Well, there is always root (for some phones). And consider that Apple crowd never had an option

Looks like I’ll be switching to a custom ROM then 👍

These changes rub me the wrong way, especially when there are existing warnings in place, when enabling alternative install sources and when enabling sideloading…

They exist so that your granny or mom won’t fall (or atleast be warned) for stupid scams that want you to install an “official bank app” or something to steal everything. Same deal with Play Protect. Yes, they suck for power users but atleast normies or the elderly will be warned or protected. You can still bypass them, they still give you the control. That’s better than what Apple does.

Power users live in a weird paradox state, cause they are the most likely to even find a well hidden feature, and yet, they always complain even when all that was added was a dialog asking for yes or no

But even if you try to sideload a Google app to update it, it won’t install unless the signature used matches the original. So it doesn’t really matter where it comes from at this point, unless the Google certs to sign their apps got somehow leaked.

Will this affect MIUI 14?

Good change, but I am afraid people that are technology illiterate will press “Update anyway” immediately without thinking, even in sketchy situations.
