Posting the update here because most of the users of RDX come from Lemmy community only.

Why?

A lot of users asked for a more polished viewer with more features and users in the EU now can not add web apps to home screen, so I spent some time building an iOS app. You can also save images and videos/gifs from Reddit now. It’s stil completely free (with an optional donate option available), the web app also works.

You can download the app here

My reddit web viewer still works! Story: When reddit killed 3rd party apps, I uploaded a web viewer I have been using for myself to Github pages for everyone to use…

If you want to lurk on Reddit, you can use this web reader I built for myself when I got inspired by the Apollo app years ago

How does this one still work? Does it do it in a different way than the old apps did?

Another thing you could do is add a way to copy url of post media. Which would make it much easier to share videos on lemmy as lemmy doesn’t host.

To do this all you need to do is request the same post with “.json” at the end of the url, and copy the “fallback_url” data point

Thanks, this looks good! I like this as a reader, but I can’t see how to subscribe to a subreddit.

  • What is the format of the rdx_subs.json file?
  • Can I get my list of subreddits from my reddit profile?

scroll to the bottom you will get all the info on how to import your subs https://rdx.overdevs.com/settings.html make sure to upload the downloaded file in app settings.

To subscribe go to any subreddit and press the top right icon(three bars) there is a subscribe button on the bottom.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
