It’s called the national security act. You’re not allowed to say anything pro-communist, and of course they’ve used that as a premise to crack down on less radical worker organizing too. The main character in Squid Game explicitly has a PTSD flashback to one such crack down, which is implied to be directly why his life sucks because he and others involved in that unionization movement all got blacklisted by South Korea’s ruling corporations.
having a permanent ad on the controller is some real capitalist innovation lmao
All the emails came from one address and carried an identical message, according to the Mainichi newspaper in Japan.
so it’s one person being a scumbag
THE TREATLERITES HAVE HAD IT TOO GOOD FOR TOO LONG, FOLKS. THE END OF GROTESQUE FIRST WORLD OVER CONSUMPTION IS HERE!
People don’t miss manufacturing jobs, they miss high wages. We associate American manufacturing with high wages, so the idea that bringing back manufacturing would bring back high wages is a kind of cargo cult notion - but of course we all know that it was high unionization that drove high wages, high progressive taxes that built all the infrastructure in this fukken country, and high imperialism that made it all possible.
I have a hypothesis that college can solve this problem by “inversing” lectures and homework.
edit: sounds like a lot of places do this already so that’s cool.
Have your students watch lectures and do reading on their own time. Hell, they can ask ChatGPT to summarize it for them if “it’s just a tool” and they want to use it! But everything that gets a grade should be done in class. You will write the essay by hand, you will do the math with no more powerful a calculator than a TI-83, you will give a presentation to show that you understand the material. Book is open, accommodations for special needs are available, and the teacher is here to help and give guidance and clarification, but internet connections are banned.
Buuuuut American colleges would never do this because ensuring that your graduates actually learn things was never the point.
every day I yearn for a Magneto movie where he is just straight up right about everything.
China and the Soviets got it right. You gotta treat religious institutions as every bit as backward and reactionary as you treat capitalist ones. That doesn’t mean you ban them outright, but you bring them under control of the state and keep them from preaching anything out of line or using their cultural influence against the DOTP.
