The difference is that Ukraine is waging conventional warfare in the defense while Hezbollah is a guerrilla force. Ukraine won’t even retreat to more defensible locations, it will throw reserves into poorly fortified areas and even go on the offensive. Hezbollah fights from mountains, holds back platoons with only a few fighters and then fires rockets at Israeli troop concentrations. Hezbollah has been a partner in resisting the Gaza Genocide for a year now, but never committed to something like the Kursk Offensive.
This is not to say the Israelis will necessarily lose and Hezbollah will necessarily win. It’s just that the actual war isn’t about Israel creating a cauldron around all of Hezbollah. It’s about how much genocide the Israelis can inflict on the lebanese while being attritioned by Hezbollah, and how many casualties the risk averse settlers are willing to take.
just a slight correction: it appears that the total vote count puts Trump at roughly the same place as in 2020. Trump gained 40k votes like Kamala lost 11 million instead of 15.
but the heart of what you said is true. twitter helped keep the trump base mobilized, but it’s not like it turned people fascist. it was the dem voters who stayed home after kamala and the dems kept courting trump voters instead of their own base.
That second half of the interview amounts to John Mearsheimer saying ‘The US can no longer stop what I consider to be China’s clearest path towards regional hegemony’. It is not just throwaway futurism. It’s not something he says lightly. It’s his entire worldview and theory coming into place.
He continues to assert that it is in the USA’s interest to slowdown Chinese economic growth as much as possible, but even then he would bet that such measures would not slow China down and would likely hurt the US more in the process.
NGL, I want to believe.
These people are losing their cool way too quickly lmao. Sure, Trump is an off ramp. He’s also a vain diva. You can create an angle where he doesn’t wanna be the president who lost the war, even if it’s Biden’s war.
I understand the heart of what you’re saying - we shouldn’t belittle the real human suffering that is ongoing in Ukraine amongst the civilian population of Ukraine and the Donbas. But if we refrain from posting these comparisons and stats because we’re on Hexbear and most people here are of a left-wing persuasion, what are we going to post?
