From #India. Here for #photography, #travel pictures, #food, #TechStuff and the silly #banter. Janitor of this instance and I welcome you to join. Iâm hopeful you might like it here - itâs peaceful and the intention is to keep it that way.

Thanks for sharing about Sublinks. It still has the mouse(?) Lemmy icon BTW. Hopefully, theyâll keep the Federation issues in priority. E.g. this (see pic) - I can never see what pic/video is posted on a Lemmy instance. Just this attachment icon and a âblankâ.
Praveen - u_tamtam mentioned what I have been thinking about Prav - whatâs the rationale for it to exist and why should I choose it over the original?
/Of course, I appreciate the work you and the other volunteers are doing to spread the awareness of XMPP, Privacy, and Security (in India).
They just couldnât because computers werenât powerful enough yet
Yahoo and ISPs like AOL tried that. And were partly successful. Yahoo was the âliterallyâ the home page for 90% of Internet users. In India, ISPs were decentralized but itâs only JIO or Airtel now, if you 24x7 service and connectivity.
I actually find the watch history useful as it has search in it. Itâs like enabling your browser history On. âWhat was that video/webpage? I recall the keyword but forgot the name of the video (or webpage).â
Also, I hardly visit the site except for links shared so the home page recommendations donât bother me and arenât of much use to me.
They know you spend time in the gaming room or ping pong table or gossip with a coffee in your hand at the cafeteria for hours. They still want you back in office. Itâs no longer an argument. All that âhybridâ work was just an illusion of choice. Companies are still stuck. Like someone above me said, itâs about control.
Mid-managers are being given extra allowances for âteam outingsâ. Then thereâs âfree breakfastâ and other âfreeâ things. Finally, managers are also being evaluated for the number of people in their team that they can get to come to the office - the more people in their team they can get to come to office, the more pat on the back they get.
Itâs no longer a debate of whether you are productive at home or in office. They just want you back in office. Simple as that. The why? I donât know.
/Friend works in corporate real estate. âEmployees in IT companies just donât want to go back and itâs a HUGE headache for companiesâŚâ is what he told me (roughly).

Is it that person whose name starts with a K? That fellow blocked my server when I had innocently mentioned that the Fedi software I use also has all the features that theyâre talking about. Of course, after spewing a whole gamut expletives and abusive words. Certainly didnât miss out on anything.
If I were a user of that server, I would run away - AVOID servers where the admins canât maintain their cool, remain calm and collected and take things personally - think of how they would react if you say something against a decision they make.
