You’re talking to a Catholic (lapsed) right now. They know protestants do this and reciprocate the sentiment. You’ll notice surveys tend to say Catholic, Christian, Mormon, Jewish, etc. in the lists of choices. (Vatican Voodoo is one of my favorite digs i’ve heard)

Many Catholics don’t particularly think of themselves as Christians either, they say “catholic” when asked about their religion, while protestants of all sorts tend to just say Christian.

Why do Israelis (well most of them) care what an old Catholic has to say?
