I find most of his videos to be conspiracy ridden and mostly fluff. As with a few other creators, he talks a ton but doesnt say much. The things he says distract from where we can actually obtain privacy in 2024 - limiting 3rd party collection and sales of our data.

My problem with Loops is the same problem I have with Pixelfed. They are both only maintained by the same one guy. No team, no support besides him. Its only a matter of time before they are dead in the water due to burnout or shifting interest.

You are doing some pretty serious mental gymnastics to find issues with Framework. Most parts are open sourced and easy to get ahold of. The parts availability and ease of replacement are lightyears beyond what most companies do. The replaceable ports are not restricted to buying theirs, many people have dedigned and built their own cheap ports and open sourced them. Try buying a laptop from any other manufacturer, and attempt to replace anything. You will be in a world of struggle. You can almost build an entire Framework directly from their marketplace. Oh, ans having stakes in a company does not mean ownership.

I agree that paper maps were the same, but we are obviously beyond that now. I am thinking that I am going to start contributing, eventually most of my local addresses and stores I commonly visit will be built up!

I have consistantly wanted to move to openstreetmaps over something like waze but I am continually dissapointed that it cannt find basic stteet addresses. If I search the address I want, all it finds is the street name. Dissapointing.

“If anything, the toggle made me feel like I was engaging in something truly indulgent, and that appealed to my desire to pretend I’m Angelina Jolie’s character in Hackers”

…opening the settings makes them feel like a hacker?
