Nah, imo people are overcorrecting their views on the books, because the author turned out to be a piece of shit.
They aren’t shit, but reading them as an adult is just kinda disappointing because the world building is just so terribly superficial in many regards. Last time I listened to the audiobooks some years ago I could still easily enjoy them and I could still see all the parts I loved as a child and what made the universe lovable to me and many others then. It’s not even that she doesn’t bring up deeper issues thematically or within the world building, she just never really expands on them as much as she could and should. No idea if it’s because of her personal politics, but she always stops exploring things right when they’re getting really interesting.
Idk, maybe it’s mostly nostalgia, because I don’t engage with Rowling in any way at all and I know I’m in the minority on this, but I’m not on the hate train yet lol
Funny as, but the cuts and the interviewers loaded questions really aren’t doing him any favor. Anyone who watches this and isn’t a comrade already will just see this as some absurd curiosity unfortunately. The wall thing is suicide in any but the most niche contexts.

Not sure what to think about him either. I’ve watched a couple of his videos at the beginning of the war, a livestream or two with the Deprogram guys and see comrades recommend him quite often, so I thought he was pretty decent. But this video combined with the China takes really brought out the Maoist leanings of his and…yeah, controversial at least.
But imo MLs online really haven’t bothered wrestling with this conflict on a theoretical basis too much. I’ve seen almost no deeper analysis and even the big Youtubers like Hakim have hardly touched on it. Day to day analysis of the events and consequences is almost non-existent too, so I reckon some controversial takes about it ain’t too bad to discuss about honestly.
Russian anti-communist nationalists are the strangest kind of people. They know the horrendous position Russia has been put in after the destruction of the SU, all the suffering it’s caused and how it lead to the current war and its horrors. But then they just turn around and blame it on communism? Extremely strange how the anti-communist indoctrination is so bad there even the nationalists don’t take pride in the extraordinary achievements of the SU, but rather regurgitate what Western robber barons - the very people who’ve done their best to destroy and humiliate their country - have told them about it.

Had someone tell me Das Kapital is a work of linguistics and an opinionpiece void of empiricism. Naturally they hadn’t read a word of it or any political/economic theory ever for that matter, but were completely adamant about their position.

Hundreds upon hundreds are dying everyday in this war and these wankers are having a laugh spending on whatever this shit is.
