I assumed it was going to be trash based on that premise, but it had a high production quality and didn’t take itself very seriously, which made it rather entertaining.

That sounds like an awful lot of work to workaround a problem that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

Kagi is the one I use. It’s paid, so they don’t skew the search results or shove ads in your face.

There’s also searxing but I didn’t want to go through the effort of self hosting.
