A post in the style of ‘we should allow the Chatgpt say slurs else it will cause nuclear armageddon’ there the premise ‘slurs/justified murder of people I dislike’ is picked first and then people rationalize back to support that argument no matter how dumb and horrible their thinking actually becomes. Discussing with somebody like this is imho useless as they just think they should be allowed to ‘say slurs’/‘murder people’.
My brain is blanking on TPOT even so I have no idea what is going on.
But I do recall I noticed this about Dill while we were still on reddit:
“he wasnt dating a 17 year old, he was domming (but worse) a 16 year old who he met when she was 15. And from his profile page his bday is 09/27/1974. So he was about 28 at the time”
So people talking about ‘sex crimes involving a minor when he was 20, which is 20 years ago.’ makes me wonder how much rounding down (and for the years ago) rounding up there is going on. If that vaguepost is about Dill.
‘nerds taking over the world’ no it was finance with techbros taking over the world. If nerds had taken over there would be a lot more open source and we wouldn’t all be familiar with the word ‘enshitiffication’.
One of the most famous techbros wants people to print out code and has trouble running a python script.
E: that these fucks can play with their venture capital shit while Real Tech Nerds(tm, do not steal!) like Foone have to ask for donations is pretty terrible. (Foone is a fun account to follow if you like somebody who takes old hardware and stuff apart in fun ways).
E: related skeet “1980s techies: Imagine a World Wide Web where all human knowledge can be shared and accessed by everyone. 2020s techbros: We will steal every word you’ve ever shared, every artwork you’ve ever displayed, lock them away in datasets without your permission, then sell them all back to you, but shite.”
Peter springs to the center of the room. The air pressure changes. A buzz, a hum, a current about us. He brims with a frenzied energy. Something is happening. He is going to give us a taste of what’s to come, he says. This is the kind of intellectual activity we’re going to experience at UATX. We’re going to grapple with big issues. We’re going to be daring, fearless, undaunted. We’re going, he says, to do something called “Street Epistemology.”
Doctor Rockso Epistemology (nsfw) they just sparkle.
Very high ‘I’m being cancelled for my opinions… you know the ones’ factor.
A long time ago amateur/indie game devs looked to procedural generated content as a sort of holy grail to generate games with more interesting content quicker. (it was esp common in the roguelike spaces). Didn’t work out that way, stuff wasn’t that easy to setup, and often was pretty shallow, buggy, and bland. But sure, this time it will work. (PGC still has its uses btw it just isn’t a holy grail).
I do hope everybody here is aware of the deeper TheMotte lore, and what kind of place it is.
E: also themotte mentions the ‘alt light’ (not by name) but I heard a rumor that apparently a lot of these yt alt light people were paid by shady people to make rightwing content. The YT’er (sorry if you know any of those) chrisraygun apparently revealed it, but I have not looked into it at all.
What if I made the line thicc?
Sickos: Yes Ha Ha YES!
