Might be defeatist, but it’s still an up hill battle. It’s a lot of effort to stay off the grid while still having access to a lot of modern technology.
I’m not about to start using multiple phones, swapping them in and out of faraday cages, never connecting to the net through anything besides proxy chains, and keeping my pc on an external hard drive. The list goes on and on for what you’d have to do to really truly have privacy. It’s a lot of work.
And they’ll get away with it because they’ve got a serious amount of lobbying power.
I don’t mean to sweep this under the rug, but I think that just stands as another case for the fact that an enormous amount of people in this country have mental health issues. It’s normalized at this point.
Besides that, news outlets that report on this only do so basically of the drama and the views. The solutions are in front of us, always have been, but that’s not what anyone truly cares about.
Yeah, but it was the government against a marginalized group of people, not the government against its entire citizenry.
I don’t think our lax gun laws would matter in that situation though. If the government ever decides to push people to revolution there would surely be many people in the military who would join the people’s cause, giving them access to what they need to fight.
Oh absolutely. You’re right, framing it that way does seem to ignore the current issues we face as a society.
I believe that our mental health as a society is problematic, but it’s not the individual’s fault due to neglect. There are root causes in the background that are responsible. People don’t need therapy, but rather living conditions need to improve.
Should have said while approving/enabling of a genocide.
The current administration has vetoed multiple UN drafts for a conflict resolution over Gaza as well as other UN resolutions proposed. We’re still sending the Israelis weapons. Neither congress nor the current administration care.
Think it’s cause I’m a slow texter but I’ve never had the issue. Might also just be due to a lot online chats not really using it anymore.
Basically this.
Going green is good, but the reality is it’s out of the control of the average individual. Corporations sold us the blame, made us feel like we could do something so they could pass it off as our responsibility.
Even if every single low to middle income family took charge and did everything they could at their own inconvenience, the progress would still be far less in comparison to what the wealthy could achieve. Sadly, we barely ever think about this and even modern climate activists like that young Swedish girl have come to perpetuate the lie that the wealthy have sold us.
