Today I learned about non-military “civil defence” which this seems to be an example of. It was an interview on the new “elbows up” podcast. Many countries have much more robust programs (Scandinavia, Northern Europe). Like the entire population being trained in first aid, preparedness, and communications. Lots also have mandatory military service or at least more trained reserves.

Just stop using it!! Meaning government officials agencies etc. It blows my mind that any thing close to any level of government in Canada still has or uses an account there

It seems irrational. Only a fraction of the electorate actually voted PC. So instead of blaming the voters, it’s important to recognize the inability of the other parties to inspire voters. Not ideal to focus on leaders but that’s what works in our system. They need someone with charisma and (perceived) integrity. Manitoba pulled it off with Wab Kinew. Jack Layton did well. Trudeau early on.

Wayne’s world is almost too on the nose honestly. Myers & co captured the 80s rocker character well. They/we were everywhere then. But it’s a silly movie so doesn’t quite fit with your theme.

My original thought was Fast Times. Just searched quintessential gen x movies and it came up on top of the list along with all the others mentioned here. Oddly I haven’t seen half of them lol

Xer here. Not sure about clerks tbh. It came out rather late plus I fell asleep watching it lol. Would suggest repo man instead (until I think of something more suitable ).

Being cut off by the US isn’t a thing. These US businesses operate in other countries solely to extract revenue from their governments and consumers. We (Canadian here) should be so lucky to have them disappear so we can build economic and cultural independence. Such a change will not be made by the US. Instead, we cut them off.
