Meanwhile it’s not like the big commercial companies like Facebook or even Google do it right… 😅!
I’ve been using Presearch for a while and often forget I’m not on a common one. But when I really need something more obscure or hard to find due to most engines’ algorhytms, I sometimes go for Yandex, which doesn’t filter out most stuff Google, Bing,… do, but it leaves you filtering through a bunch of Russian stuff… 😅
My search-engine test for this is quite simple, though. Look for something specific nobody wants to see (like known scam sites like bitcoin doublers), there’s plenty of those still around, but they usually are part of the great search-engine filters, so if I look for those specifically and find them first entry on a search engine, that usually means the engine results are not tweaked and I’ll have more chance finding what I need rather than what it thinks I should find/need…
Yeah, worse even, they started this unhelpful what’s new message rage as far as I know. First time I saw it, I laughed, thought it was ironic coming from Google in their own store, but since then many others started doing it to so it can be fully automated in the most simplistic way possible abd not gaving to mention updates that are actually in your disadvantage… It is becoming a problem. Even Discord (who used to make hilariously funny What’s New’s) just tells you to check the new stuff in the app after updating it now… Kinda defeats the whole point, tbh.
Ironic how a service that can be run by volunteers on a decently low cost got taken over by one of the richest men on the planet, who then can’t keep it alive because of financial problems. 😅😂
“Oh, the irony.” indeed. 😂
I don’t get how it is so openly normal to, as a country or nation (or combined group there-of), cut off an entire targeted country from technological advancement for commercial reasons or any reason for that matter. That just seems like a terrible (and more like a not-so-distant-future scifi movie) thing to do, is it not? I might just be missing information that makes it acceptable, though I can’t really imagine any reason right now that would make this ok… 🤔
Imho a bit comparable to the tricycles, racals and jeepny’s in the Philippines tbh… It works, prices are cheaper than taxi’s, comfort goes down as cost, but at least many lowerclasses can get places without having to own a car…
I’m using torrentgalaxy for all my shit. I do tend to still buy stuff occasionally, but usually after having seen it and appreciating the work into it. I’m a bit against paying for cats in bags (not knowing if it’s any good until you already paid). The original website ends in ‘dot to’, but you might have to set your dns settings to an open one (like google [8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4] or Cloudflare [1.1.1.1]) to get there.
😜
