Yup. The Democrats as we’ve known them need to die or completely metamorphose. I don’t want my political party to be friends with CEO’s and billionaires, I want my political party to get the American people’s fair share. I want my party to look upon trillion dollar companies and billion dollar families with the same disgust and ire I have. There’s no such thing as a good billionaire, a good person could never take that much.
Let’s bust some monopolies, let’s tax the fuck outta tycoons. Stop giving billions of government dollars to privately owned and traded companies. Let’s invest in infrastructure projects that make our country better. Who gives a fucking shit about GDP, it doesn’t make my life better.
Firstly, please don’t whatabout me. But to answer your question; goods in every sector are still manufactured in this country. From shoes and jackets to missiles and airplanes, we still make it all. Definitely in far smaller quantities than before, because the cost of labor is significantly higher, meaning US made goods demand a large premium over imported goods. If everything was made domestically you’d be too poor to buy half the stuff you own now. Manufacturing jobs are trash and pay trash, unless they’re highly skilled jobs (like building airplanes). Nobody wants $3 an hour where I’m from.
We’re not protecting anything for free with Ukraine. We agreed that if this literal situation happened, we’d fight Russia since Ukraine was giving away their deterrent. Like, do you think Russia still would’ve invaded Ukraine if there were nukes that could wipe Moscow off the map in Ukraine?

Exactly, these clowns hired the same types of people who barely pull off wins despite being the majority party. They’re really good at collecting money and paying themselves, but really shit at winning.
The right has been stacking the deck, blatantly, for thirty fucking years. I’m a big fan of awarding electrical college points based on congressional districts. All of a sudden those cities in deeply red states get a voice.
You’re misunderstand the frustration. We’ve been seeing Republicans bending the rules and stacking the deck for decades and have been shouting at the top of our lungs that they’re not playing fair. The Democrats didn’t just fail in 2024, they’ve been fucking up since Reagan, and all of us that have been warning this was happening feel like we were betrayed. From where I’m sitting it feels like the Democrats don’t really have any ideals past getting elected. The correct response to Trump 1.0 was throwing the criminal in jail and issuing hundreds of executive orders (a la Trump’s throw out so much shit they can never clean the mess doctrine) to cripple voter suppression and ensuring another quasi dictator didn’t end up in office.
We needed radical leadership and we got the status quo, and frankly if speaks volumes about how disconnected liberal leadership is from their base.
What a stupid take. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and inform you that when the USSR fell a substantial amount of their nuclear weapons were within Ukraine’s borders and Ukraine was the only new state in a position to actually maintain and potentially deploy their nuclear arsenal.
Ukraine gave up those nukes on the promise that Russia and the USA wouldn’t invade Ukraine. Now Russia has invaded and the USA is siding with fucking Russia. This sends a message to every other civilized nation that the USA won’t back them up if another nuclear power invades. Where does that logically lead them then? “Better build my own nuclear deterrent” and now we’re gonna go from 7 countries with potential to end all life on earth to god knows how many. The downstream impact of this could literally end humanity.
They just don’t get it. The game has changed, people are used to high energy fast paced delivery from social media. A presidential candidate needs to be engaging and deliver a super condensed message that’s shareable. I don’t know anybody in my personal life that was excited Kamala was running and I’m from the bay area.
Granted Biden withdrawing so close to the election left them without much time to strategize, I don’t see them really playing it too differently. The legacy Dems are old and corrupt, they don’t understand that being cozy with corporations is gross and that we want fiery new blood. They’ll probably continue doing the same shit, playing the same old games until it’s too late.
I work in the corporate side of retail for a large company. I promise you not a single vendor is absorbing the tariffs, but a few are getting around it by just moving production for the US market to other factories they already own in Southeast Asia.
These companies were already afraid of the Chinese government absorbing them and moved “headquarters” to Singapore. This isn’t hurting them, it’s hurting us.
