It’s easy to feel like X is just a fascist wasteland, but guys Medhi Hasan still frequently reach millions of people. Even if we’re yelling into the firehose of BS the reach is still orders of magnitude higher than platforms like this. I still prefer here much greater, but we aren’t the ones that need to hear this stuff.

Unfortunately, places like Instagram, X, and Facebook are where all the late-deciders get their political messages from. My wife completely non-political because she didn’t grow up in a democracy and she is constantly surprised and in disbelief when i mention what Trump is up to. She’s used to periodic meme’s about Biden causing inflation and her general takeaway is “Trump is good for economy” even though she knows he is a horrible person who cannot be taken for his word on anything… almost purely thanks to me. Sometimes she thinks I’m the one that has gone extreme and am just talking crazy until I bring the receipts.

At work, she speaks to a lot of customers who are mostly the same. If they get mobilized to vote…they are doing so off similar information avenues.

So i think we should be careful about building ALL our information around sources that are essentially preaching to the choir, and make sure to still actively post to other media even if its not the main/trusted source so it’s not just a firehose of unchecked Republican talking points.

Why look elsewhere when we have perfectly healthy children that could fill in some of the gaps?

Imagine deporting all immigrants and then waging war to bring their countries under your control. It’s just insane enough that I could see MAGA doing it.

I don’t mind the media pointing out them being blatantly-lying shitstains though.

Silly us, we thought we escaped the Darkest Timeline.

Trump denied the plans so I don’t think that worked to his effect.

The messaging just isn’t getting through to the right people. Maybe there just wasn’t enough time to get it out.

But the messaging itself needs work. We see tax breaks for new homes buyers, new small business, tips… that still leaves everyone that’s not in these categories.

Trump roles in… finds out whatever local issue everyone is riled up about, blames it on the dems, game. Set. Match.

We should do the same, but with actual solutions, while blaming the right people (yea, even if those people happen to be corporations). Like inflation… where was the messaging about greedflation? How corporations were fleecing their pockets? It’s even got a catchy buzzword.

It’s not clear we will even get another genuine shot at this, but we need an iron tight strategy if there’s gonna be any hope.

Maybe Bernie has some ideas on who and what policies we should rally around. He’s already torching the dems for this and as far as I’m concerned he is the only one that can take on a leading role at this point. Literally every single establishment Democrat participated and failed in this and it’s clear a new progressive push is needed.

MAGA didn’t win tugging our sleeves slightly toward the right. It’s time to acknowledge reality finally.
