Adrian Younge! He makes hip-hop inspired jazz with legends from both genres and cites Portishead as one of his most beloved inspirations.

There’s also Supreme Beings of Leisure, who were lesser known contemporaries of Portishead. Lots of similarities here, but they generally explore a wider breadth of feels besides depressive longing, and their sound definitely reflects that. One of my personal all-time favorite bands, these guys. Right up there with Portishead!

Edit: Mazzy Star also comes to mind for their shared tone. More of a stripped down sound in comparison, and they lean more toward bluesy folk, alt rock, and occasionally gaze than triphop, but their lyrics should have a familiar feel to Portishead fans. They might be a bit disimilar on the surface, but they share a lot of the same spirit once you pop that hood up.

Mr. Purrrty, Vengeful Keeper of Melons
Cost: 2 colorless mana, 1 white mana, 1 green mana

Vigilance, Lifelink, Ward 1

When Mr. Purrrty enters, create a 0/1 melon token with “you may tap this card for one green mana. When you do, create a 0/1 melon token with this same effect”

Whenever one or more melons you control leave the field, put a +1/+1 counter on Mr. Purrrty. Whenever one or more melons enter the field under your control, you may move one +1/+1 counter from Mr. Purrrty to any other creature you control. Each of these effects can only be activated once each turn.

Melons you control have Ward 1.

Power: 1 / Toughness: 2

I really wish decks were a bit bigger in this game. It’s fun enough, but strategies feel so restricted by needing to pack in all the essential cards like Prof, pokeballs, Sabrina etc.

Still tho, I appreciate the breakdown and look forward to crushing with my nuclear kitties. Thanks, dude!

How do Solgaleo decks work? I pulled two back to back the other day but recently dropped pocket for mtg arena and have fully lost the pulse of the meta

You can take it as needed, and it is the same chemical your brain naturally makes to get itself tired so it doesn’t feel anything like other sleep aids. I recommend taking it daily because, in my case at least, the pattern of it helps my body get back on its own regular schedule. I get used to getting sleepy around the same time every night, as long as I remember to keep to the process.

Even more so in song than in poem alone. It’s called “Teachers” by Leonard Cohen, and it is more than worth a listen.

I met a woman long ago
Her hair the black that black can go
“Are you a teacher of the heart?”
Soft she answered, “No”

I met a girl across the sea
Her hair the gold that gold can be
“Are you a teacher of the heart?”
“Yes, but not for thee”

I met a man who lost his mind
In some lost place I had to find
“Follow me”, the wise man said
But he walked behind

I walked into a hospital
Where none was sick and none was well
When at night the nurses left
I could not walk at all

Morning came and then came noon
Dinner time, a scalpel blade
Lay beside my silver spoon

Some girls wander by mistake
Into the mess that scalpels make
“Are you the teachers of my heart?”
“We teach old hearts to break”

One morning I woke up alone
The hospital and the nurses gone
“Have I carved enough, my Lord?”
“Child, you are a bone”

I ate and ate and ate
No, I did not miss a plate
“Well, how much do these suppers cost?”
“We’ll take it out in hate”

I spent my hatred every place
On every work on every face
Someone gave me wishes
And I wished for an embrace

Several girls embraced me
Then I was embraced by men
“Is my passion perfect?”
“No, do it once again”

I was handsome I was strong
I knew the words of every song
“Did my singing please you?”
“No, the words you sang were wrong”

“Who is it whom I address
Who takes down what I confess?
Are you the teachers of my heart?”
“We teach old hearts to rest”

“Oh, teachers are my lessons done?
I cannot do another one”
They laughed and laughed and said
“Well, child, are your lessons done?”
“Are your lessons done?”
“Are your lessons done?”
