If you deviate even a little from the norm you would be considered an outcast or worse be targeted for stupid things. Real people would show up at your doorsteps for stupid reasons which could be life threatening to many people (this has happend to many people in real life due to doxxing). Your employer could fire you for that comment you made in support of a certain group which didn’t align with their ideology.

For FaceID there’s face Unlock but it’s not faceid. Fingerprint is the rule and I’m fine with that one. I’m not sure about the home screen UX but I use smart launcher 6 and it does a good job of providing a neat sorted apps catehpry list for me. As for battery life. The new snapdragon 8 gen 2 provides beastly battery life compared to previous generations which were a regression.

About extended software support. I agree google is a bit behind samsung. But, 5 years os support is not bad. You have samsung, some oneplus smartphones and than google.

In the end if none of that matters, you do you. You do not need justification to use or the other. Just read some reviews and make your decision.

Yeah, one handed mode+ and gestures is the ultimate combo IMHO

The in-app purchases can be buggy with amnesia hitting them once a while, making you install/reinstall just so google remembers you purchased pro. This happens when you have more than 1 google accounts on android.

I’m in support of a separate pro version of the app. As a compromise, this could work, too. Though, I would prefer an app without any ad libraries whatsoever.

Unless the app offers you cloud functions like email, cloud storage, multi-player gaming, or social media sites(lemmy, kbin, mastodon), etc. I see subscriptions as a no-go.
