Hello! Apparently I hit the wrong reply button and replied to your comment instead of the image! Sorry about that! Wasn’t trying to imply your comment was shallow or anything, that was my bad!

I was trying to reply to the original image, which struck me as a shallow interpretation of Franklin’s quote about Liberty being sold out for security. It’s not generally wrong, but I saw a lot of Americans abuse it during the pandemic which was incredibly frustrating.

Sorry again, didn’t mean to imply your thoughtful addition was bad or anything!

So, obviously democracy is under attack in a myriad of ways, but this has big “I’m 14 and this is deep” energy.

Maybe they didn’t choose the best comparison shots, but the technical details of what’s happening with this mod is really interesting. With his mod, it’s approximating global illumination in world space vs the standard screen space methods, so it’s accounting for bounced lighting from areas offscreen.

The cool thing about it is it’s implemented via Reshade, so you don’t need a ray-tracing card to make it work as far as I can tell, and it should be compatible with games that RTX remix won’t be able to touch.

Larian specifically said they’re working on optimizing for Xbox right now, so it seems like they’re pretty confident in making it happen. They seem like they’ve been pretty on the ball for promised features, so I’m pretty confident it will come out.

The previews they’ve shown look really promising.

If you don’t mind it being a digital version, you can get the Lost Mines book for free on D&D Beyond.

Really you can’t go wrong with most of Obsidian’s games. Pillars of Eternity is a fantastically written game with excellent role playing. You can literally have an in-depth conversation with one of the gods of the world with a certain background that I thought was surely going to be flavorful only.

A certain character asks you if you are real and your response options are: -Yes -Yes (lie) -No -No (lie)

It’s absolutely incredible. There’s a ton of thought out into the world and often your class and background offer alternative dialogue options with characters.

I’ve also played Divinity Original Sin, and while it’s a great game for interesting combat interactions, there’s not a lot to bite into for role playing imo. You get some dialogue choices, but they aren’t very interesting or flavorful, and I’m pretty sure they don’t change based on any factors other than maybe if you failed a quest rather than succeed. It’s a fun game, but not much of an interesting story. It’s got couch co-op, so it can be a fun to play with a partner or a friend if you want a better role playing experience.

This is a pretty good, nuanced take at the current state of Infinite. There’s a lot they’re to like, but it’s been hampered by a poor execution. It seems like they’ve started to hit a good stride with S4.

If there are any developers reading this, please do your cutscenes in-engine. It always ages better.
