I don’t think changes anything. Hasan was detained by CBP, not ICE.

And you can’t exactly just abolish CBP. Most Americans still would want “secure borders”

And modern society to too entangled with the concept of the state and law enforcement that I don’t see any way of any law enforcement organization to just be abolished. There no political will to do so.

Most Americans lean liberal, not leftist.

Maybe so reforms and a “you can’t detain/arrest non-violent undocumented immigrants” rule but that’s the most I realistically see happening.

You abolish ICE, they are just gonna use CBP, FBI, National Guard, or whatever. I mean, if they are gonna violate laws, they will do so reguardless of what name/banner the Gestapo is labeled under.

Lol, its kinda like a dilemma.

If you are an absolute pacifist, you all live.

If you are a war mongerer, many of you will die, perhaps all of you will.

If you are like 50% pacifist 50% violent, the 50% of universe where you are a pacifist will get absolutely destroyed by the other 50% violent "you"s.

But, I can’t be sure. If there is even a chance of them being the evil ones, I’ll have to give up any shred of pacifist ideals that remains in me and just go total “kill or be killed” mode.

We can make a Fedi-Wiki that requires you to agree to the terms that everything you publish is considered public, kinda like a source code under GPL.

Edit: Lol I just remembered it’s called Creative Commons. Its what Wikipedia uses.

I feel double bad for people that, not only have to deal eith an abusive government, but also an abusive household. Doubt sadness. Especially when the abusive household members is threatning to use the fascist state’s law enforcement against you.

Oh sorry, I did that thing again where I discribe a bad situation, but really was describing my situation.

(Someone please just end me already)

Can I go to a universe that has another me but the original me from that universe is dead?

This question was inspired by Dark Matter (2024), in the TV series, you could.

But the rules of this questions, no. (Where’s the fun in that? 😉) The alt-you must be alive the moment of your entry attempt, otherwise you can’t enter that universe. The alt-you’s death after the moment of your entry is irrelevent, but if you leave, and if there’s no more versions of you in the universe, then, that universe is no longer accessible to you (or any version of you).

No, I watched Dark Matter (the 2024 show)

This prompt is based of it (its not exactly how the rules are in the show, but I modified it to increase the ethical dilemma)

what happens after they die in their universe if I cannot exist in it without them?

If they die, they just die, you can still leave, but you won’t be able to go back there again, neither can any versions of “you”.

There can be unlimited number of “you” in a world, but that can cause issues with the world. I mean, think about it, the authorities are gonne be like “WTF” since you never had a twin on record. And problems go even further if there are like 3, 4, or 5 versions of you existing in the same world. The world doesn’t care, but like, the authorities are gonna put you in a blacksite and run experiments on you. I mean, unless you can find a world where the other “you” doesn’t care that you have the face as them, and just poped out of thin air and there is no birth record of you.

I mean, if another version of me just appeared, I’m gonna feel threatened and probably kill him for self defence (so he doesn’t get ideas to try to take my place).

Edit: Unrelated, but the 2015 Dark Matter is also great, whole different premise, and its also interesting to watch.

Intellectuals are usually the most willing to resist authoritarianism.

That’s why they are usually one of the very early targets.
