Ohh that’s what was meant. I thought it was about some document before reading your comment.

Do you think Lemmy is big enough to attract that kind of attention? I would be genuinely surprised if it does.

My theory was that the content just floods over from other sources. Where there are bots / paid people. Anecdotally I’ve not seen the classic bots like you see on Twitter and Reddit here yet.

You only need to ask yourself why the PSU manufacturer would bother including the second connector on the same cable if it wasn’t ok to use it.

If you use a third party extension/splitter that would be another story but it doesn’t look that way in the diagram.

I am definitely on the hope side of things. Lemmy has extreme potential for growth. Just not explosive fast growth. I believe the strength of Lemmy could be “natural” growth as the threat of the platform going downhill is smaller.

I needed to scroll way too much to see people mention marketing and advertising. It’s a huge deal.

The power of good advertising is not to be underestimated. There is a good statistically proven reason why so much money flows into it. And it’s not only traditional advertising but viral and “astroturfed” advertising.

Years ago you needed to send them a check every month. You also mostly got paid with a monthly check.

For some (historic) reason bank transfers are very underutilized in America. I think it gets better though? I don’t know am not 'murican.

I really hate the culture of self censorship people are developing. Fuck the corporate clean Internet.

I’m not advocating for being uncivilized but we should name the things we are discussing by their names.

I love talking with kids in that phase. The raw curiosity and interest in the mundane is so refreshing.

Sometimes I feel like many adults hate to learn new stuff and even get offended by the idea. It’s heartbreaking seeing those interact with inquisitive children, when they answer honest curiosity with indifference or worse anger.
