@Fitik and Fediverse only gained a few thousand.

We’re losing because of the lack of moderation tools.

People don’t always want to be a part of the moderation process. Matter of fact, I’d say most don’t.

Therefore, people will just block and mute, and if it keeps happening, they’ll leave.

If user reports continue to be the only way for moderation to happen, Fedi fails.

I’ve been beating this drum for almost a year and it really feels like it’s never going to get fixed, unfortunately.😔

@BeAware@social.beaware.live BlueSky does have some moderation features that Fedi doesn’t have, like moderation lists or labelers, but I don’t think this is the main reason, Threads have even less of them and they gain much more users

@Fitik I’m talking moderation on a level that a user cannot do themselves.

Blocking and muting are not moderation, they’re user tools to limit your feed, nothing more.

In my case, I have the technical knowledge and spare hardware to host a small server. But, I find the value is too low for me to put in the effort

Back in the day, in Reddit you could actually learn something, push your hobby, share some laughs. Reddit of course became a dumpster fire and I find it’s almost the same here

As a user, no matter how I filter and tinker I cannot escape the diarrhea of USA politics in all communities; and to boot, any variation from the herd’s opinion is met with instant insults

Today I find the fediverse is almost as bad as Reddit, only kept in check by the smaller size to be honest.

Yeah, it’s sad because I had big hopes but the community here has worked against any hope of making it decent - it’s too confusing for a beginner to know where to sign up, if they do it’s a struggle to find active communities amid all the clones, and then if they try to participate all they’re get is abuse and downvotes if their opinion is a letter off from the accepted opinion.

I would accept difficulties if people were at least trying to make it better but there’s never been any effort to work together improving things, no community get together or shared effort - just insults and bickering.

Enough Musk Spam

!enoughmuskspam@lemmy.world

Create post

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.
