In order to stay very long in any alphabet agency you basically have to be loyal above all else. They’re not looking for the best people, the folks take of he FBI hiring the best hackers or the CIA the best cryptographers is mostly just that; they do go for the best, but would rather have someone unwaveringly loyal even if they’re mediocre.

If you even seem like you’re going partially Snowden, you’ll be isolated, your work triple checked, followed and stalked, etc until you’re either in solitary or you quit.

Also, Trump aligns with a shocking amount of alphabet goals. But that’s a theory for another time in a different instance.
