My 6 year phone over heats, especially now since we are in the mid of summer.

Idle battery drain over night is 70%.

I doubt you would get a replacement battery now. But, you could try if you do not want to upgrade to a new one

I tried replacing the battery, but the “new” battery was just as bad.

The problem is that these batteries were just stored somewhere for years, probably in not ideal conditions.

What phone is this? Are the batteries from the official service center or 3rd party repair service/site?

This is my replacement battery since … well, a year or so ago. It’s just really bad. I’m looking if it can last till end of the year, I am eyeing at a second hand Xiaomi 13. When 15 lands, see if can get to my ideal price (<1500RMB).

Does your phone ever get that not-so-fresh feeling?

Edit: lol, sneaky edit.

If you use the same phone for 3-5 Years. It does start to feel a bit old. Especially, if it’s not getting new OS updates.

Changing launchers, themes, icon packs can make it feel a bit fresh.

They didn’t talk about it so, would changing the OS on an older device be helpful? If so what is recommended these days?

Personally, I had an LG V30 and it lasted 6 years because I put on a custom ROM.

I run Lineage OS with no gapps and no proprietary apps of any kind. My device is fast and snappier than higher end Google Android devices

Same. I do have a couple of apps on my device that are not open source but that’s primarily my bank app and that’s the only one. However, that will be going away very soon as I did just switch banks this previous month and confirmed that my direct deposit is going to the new account. So I will be shutting that one down and my new bank is completely available on the web. So I will be using their website instead of an app.

It is good that you switched banks. Don’t support that junk

Would love to run lineage, but Android Auto is just too convenient for me

Possibly, it depends how different the new OS is and whether it’s lighter. Check the XDA Developers forum for your phone.
