This movie is wild. It starts off with a boy and his talking dog like an old live action Disney movie. But it gets real dark, real fast until Topeka, at which point it turns the whole concept around and the rapist is now being raped, which seems super under examined because of the sudden revolution subplot. Again, it’s a wild ride and not for everyone, but I’m glad I saw it.
He is accompanied by a well-read, misanthropic, telepathic dog named Blood, who helps him find women to rape, in exchange for which Vic finds food for the dog.
what a great movie.
You seem to think the movie is about moral characters. It’s about people scraping by after World War IV. Yes, IV. Vic and Blood have a mutual survival pact.
I don’t think “women to rape” is precisely covered by the pyramid of needs, so maybe call it mutual interests?
I’m not going to explain the entire plot of the movie to you, so go ahead and think what you’d like about it.
I think you’ll have some uphill work to do if you want to paint Harlan Ellison as being in favor of rape.
I straight up do not want to see this movie.
Honestly, it’s a good movie. One of the better adaptations of a sci-fi story to be honest. Ellison was directly involved, which is why. The only complaint I can make is the same big one Ellison made- they changed the last line of the story. The only other big change is that Vic is older in the movie than he was in the novella.
Edit: If you’re a Fallout fan, you should definitely watch it, because it was one of the inspirations for the look and feel of the games.
And look! You can watch it for free! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQRg11HvfJU
Thanks for the link! There’s a full movies on YouTube magazine somewhere but I can’t remember the name now, they’d probably appreciate this.

It’s one of those movies that I put on for giggles one boring evening many moons ago, and spent the whole time going “what the fuck?”
It’s also been referenced in the Fallout series and, supposedly, contributed to inspiring the franchise back in the day.
