I didn’t know working for nine cents-dollar an hour (variable depending on state) as a punishment for a drug charge or some other felony (ontop of getting your rights stripped) isn’t slavery! What’s even stranger is that there is certain ethnic groups targeted by the private prison complex and then sentenced to that type of “labor as punishment for crime” in the same settler state that has a history of enslaving people. Just coincidences, right?
