Actually this thread in general is a pretty interesting one, people really calling the sub on their BS
Leftists burned immense amounts of political capital in 2020
That’s not what political capital means.
Also, he talks about leftists retconning, but the only retconning about massive and hugely popular protests was people pretending after the fact there wasn’t massive support behind them.
Do they think everything is twitter? Leftists have no public presence in America whatsoever. The only thing I can think is these people are talking specifically about the 2020 Sanders coalition or anyone they think might belong to it. They’re either electoral brained or twitter brained or some unholy combination of both
critical support lol
Holy fuck every single comment has at least one fucking annoying automod response under it.
Is this what they think is funny say leftist and get an automatic message telling them leftists are morally bankrupt?
Do they realize they have the same politics as a small child with a sit and spin?
TBF the Deprogram sub also has that. So less a political ideology thing and more a “literal children trying to discuss politics” thing
The Deprogram ones I kinda get, the idea is if a lib wanders in the bots slam them with info dumps that are mean to dismiss their tired ass talking points. It gets annoying when we have to type out the same 6 or 7 responses to the same 6 or 7 easily debunkable Lib arguments, sometimes I almost wish HexBear had that feature. They’re actual counter arguments not just quippy responses like the neolib ones.
Issue is they get triggered too damn easily and end up clogging up the comments. I feel like it would be better if only Mods could deploy them and did so only once or twice per thread. Or maybe that wouldn’t work either and we’re just better off without it then.
They’re trying to use automod the same way left subs do to promote a party line. They don’t like the word leftist, the subreddit itself is pulled leftwards of the “neoliberal” politics (thatcherism/reaganism) its team wishes to promote.

a not insignificant fraction of /r/neoliberal posters feel like keynesians/social democrats using liberal rhetoric.
Yes definitely. The modteam have coasted on the “liberal” confusion and aim to suck in softer libs then pull them right. It’s the same as we do with building pipelines and catching spaces, except they’re shit at it and don’t do nearly enough purging or party line pushing. A problem they have of course is that reality does not conform to the party line they would want to push, so they would open themselves to criticism and ridicule by pushing it followed by having to do mass purges.
Reality does conform to what we push, we typically have to purge for the most inane anticommunist genocide gorillionzillion people reactionary shit ever, which is obviously quite a different problem. Generally we do a very good job of education because we have nothing to fear in doing it.
If they aren’t constantly told that they are morally superior to all others, they start to question why everything is rotting away under neoliberalism.
They have an automod claiming “Leftists are morally bankrupt”
Who’s policies exactly balance a spreadsheet of starving child vs unstarving children?
and then it’s followed up with dipshits saying “NUH UH LEFTISTS HAVE SO MUCH POWER ON CITY COUNCILS AND THAT DANG WEST COAST”
can they give examples? doubt it, because they are definitely just calling some DemSocs(aka liberals) leftists.
Fresh comment, 16 mins old. Not a USian but I’m pretty sure this is all bullshit, but someone in the US could probably respond better. (Also, the allegation was not that there were several DSA members on council like Chicago but that “leftists hold a significant amount of power” on city councils), so some slippery bullshit on top.
but the mayor is far left
IN WHAT FUCKING WORLD IS MURIEL BOWSER “FAR LEFT”
Kshama Sawant in Seattle. She spearheaded the $15 minimum wage push, probably being the reason any city/county/state anywhere has adopted it. IIRC she’s also not running for re-election, and is going to focus on far more important and effective labor organizing and movement building going forward.
I’m pretty sure that’s it. Definitely none of the city council members, state politicians, or federal representatives in California anywhere near me are anything even vaguely leftist.

Yea that thread was very much not reassur8ng lol the comment blaming leftists was way more upvoted and the comment saying “You’re referring to liberals” when saying the west coast is full of communists was downvoted
I’m living the deep West Coast experience and still waiting to find these alleged elected leftists we have here. Guess I just keep turning my head the wrong way every time they pop their heads up or something.
I can think of exactly one: Kshama Sawant. And she’s a long way from my neck of NorCal.
California’s recent issues are due to soft on crime policy and inaction
LMFAO. If only things were a tenth as good as these nitwits try to make them out to be.
I just looked into this and the most left people could find were a few scattered progressives who otherwise work with Democrats anyway. There are a few self described socialists actually, but most of the time they’ll be the only one on a city council of 15 people.
There are some DSA members on LA’s city council. Apparently one of whom (Eunisses Hernandez) is a prison abolitionist, and that’s awesome. But none of these people have majorities and seems like they’re only barely tolerated by Democrats.
