Posting the updates here because most of the users of RDX come from lemmy community only.

  1. Compact mode (smaller thumbnails, faster loading) is here,
  2. Infinite Scrolling is here. If that’s your thing enable it from the settings page.
  3. All GIFs now load faster than ever.
  4. OP’s comments are labelled.
  5. New themes and fonts. (not just the default dark and white, go colorful)

My reddit web viewer still works! Story: When reddit killed 3rd party apps, I uploaded a web viewer I have been using for myself to Github pages for everyone to use…

If you want to lurk on Reddit, you can use this web reader I built for myself when I got inspired by the Apollo app years ago

Thank you! This is immensely helpful. There are a few subreddits or some other information that I need occasionally.

Is RDX privacy friendly? Obviously use it with VPN. Other suggestions for preventing Reddit monetization? TY in advance!

it makes one call to reddit to get the json file to display contents. Cloudflare’s anonymous analytics are used now but I am looking for an alternative.

TY! There are a bunch of subreddits I’d like to be able to access, but without giving them clicks to monetize. I’m done with Reddit management, but there’s a lot of good people on the right subs, posting useful stuff.

Lmao. You think VPN/Read-Only App prevents reddit monetization? You’re still participating engagement and metrics that are extremely valuable to Reddit.

You’re like someone using fossil fuels asking if there are other suggestions for preventing global warming.

You keep contributing to Reddit monetization and IPO unless you stop using reddit. Plenty of us lost communities that only exist on reddit and we have to live with that. Now y’all are wasting our efforts and giving Spez his profitable IPO

Why is this getting red arrowed?

I stopped wondering those things haha. But likely because I’m on a reddit pro sub bashing the app for being part of the problem.

Yes, you can add it to home screen on both android/ios and now mac too for an app-like experience.

Hello, I really like the UI, but the name of your website is too long to type. Also, it consists of two separate names, which redirect to two different websites (rdx.com and overdevs.com), meaning your website name is not good enough. It would be better if you used an alternate name, which is:

  • Concise. (reddit.com has a maximum of six characters.)
  • Attractive. (The name should sound beautiful so users are more likely to use your website.)
  • Familiar. (The name should have similarities with Reddit, so users will recognize that this website is just a different UI for Reddit and not a completely new website.)

I apologize if I sounded too harsh when giving feedback.

rdx.overdevs.com doesn’t redirect to two different websites, it’s a subdomain (which essentially functions just like any other domain).

The name being long isn’t really a problem when most people just bookmark the sites they want to visit often and/or add the site to their home screen on mobile devices.

Moreover, using an alternate domain would incur additional unnecessary yearly cost & time to renew. The less maintenance these types of projects need, the better it is usually for them to survive long term.

I don’t like the name either and will ask for suggestions and change that but it doesn’t make two redirects. Why don’t you suggest one?
