Ended up just making a separate steam account. Though on my steamdeck it ‘helpfully’ shows recent updates for all games for all accounts on the device even if they aren’t logged in, which is annoying.
There’s also the aspect of control. They’d rather start up a non-profit so they can distribute the money in a way they still control rather than share the value their employees truly generate simply because this keeps that control with them. They’d rather people get their help from their charities than make it so they didn’t need the charity it at all.
I’m not sure where I even alluded to the government? I was talking about how so called billionaire philanthropists rob money from regular people and then hide behind the fact that they give it to charity as if that somehow makes it ok.
They know they aren’t able to horde all of our money to themselves so they give part of it away, but most of us seem to miss the fact that even if what they’re doing as a non-profit is good, the only reason they can do so is because they deprived regular folks of their rightfully earned value. It is a form of power to be in charge of a major non-profit, offering them outsized influence on others lives and increased connections to avenues of power.
