Statistically that’s quite likely… you break your hip when you’re 65+ and there’s a 60-80% chance you’re dead in a year.

It notes that killing of surrendering forces was an all participants type thing not entirely specific to Canada though. Even notes that Britain was particularly bad about surrendering enemies due to fake surrenders in the South African War just a decade or so before.

Being pedantic he’s gotta at least have mirrors in there because of where the eyepiece is to the side. Additional pedantry is that the aperture and eyepiece being different sizes requires at least one focusing lens.
