I’d argue that more or less every restaurant already has at least one vegan ‘option’, although not necessarily a good one. If they have french fries with ketchup, or bread and margarine, they already comply with a hypothetical law.

And I don’t see any way to mandate “offer at least one delicious option” as that’s up for debate and nothing objective.

I guess more and more restaurants are adding vegetarian and vegan options nowerdays purely because there’s a demand for it. If there’s a group of five looking for a restaurant where only one of the group is a vegan, most groups will pick a restaurant that caters everyone’s needs. Thus, having no such option will result in less customers and less income.

I think there are many fast food restaurants out there where ‘just fries with ketchup’ is the healthiest choice. E.g. I doubt that fries with Frikandel in the Netherlands or a German Sausage is much healthier than the fries alone. Sure, there’s a little added protein but the fat and nitrosamines negate these small benefits.

  1. Newer washing machines vary in time depending on how dirty your clothes are. So the same program may take 50 minutes or 90 minutes. This cannot be solved with a regular timer.

  2. If you have a job with varying hours, you might want to start the washing mashine when you’re heading home. Then you’re clothes are ready to be hung as you arrive and they aren’t laying around for hours.

  3. If you own photovoltaic, you might want to time energy intense home appliances such as washing machines, dish washers etc. to a period of overproduction.

Not saying, these issues are super important but there definitely are use cases for smart devices. However, I’d always recommend using a local / self-hosted rather than a cloud-based solution.

Not a washing machine technician but I guess an optical sensor measuring the light permeability of the water (over time) should do the trick. Similar to a smoke detector. But I guess weight is a thing as well.

Are you sure about that? Putin still has access to nuclear weapons and I feel like if he’s desparate enough he sure as hell will use them. Even if they wouldn’t save his ass, he’ll take as many souls with him as possible. Furthermore, if NATO troops officially side with Ukraine, are we sure China, Iran, India etc. won’t side with Russia accordingly?

So it’s like an open source version of meet up, right?

I guess our society will rather build airconditioned green houses for wine than implement meaningful measures to protect the planet.

Its CPU performance doubles the Raspberry Pi 5.

But with a price starting from 149$ it also doubles the price of a raspberry. I think if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to a Pi, go for used/refurbished thin clients that ran out of leasing. At least here in Germany they are often sold for cheap.

If you’re in Germany checkout mydealz.de. There, such offers are posted by users more or less every week. There are similar user-driven deal websites in other countries (HotUKDeals, CholloMetro in Spain, Pepper in Poland, …) but these I don’t follow regularly.
