Here’s the rest of the (long) thread that I cut off for readability, but it’s also pretty funny:

Well this is spectacular!

I always just assumed the “crazy shit for everyone” theory was the case, they just didn’t have the scientific understanding to describe it. 100 years later those crazy descriptions had been analyzed to death.

But I love the Continuing Crazy Adventures of Captain Kirk theory. That one sounds like it is way more fun. Star Fleet is reading these logs and just trying to figure out what to do with Kirk.

I love it. Like they all know him as this overzealous explorer-type with a flair for the dramatic, but he’s bored as hell staring at empty space all day.

Lower Decks basically confirms that everyone is encountering crazy stuff all the time though.

I really like how Lower Decks goes with that last comment and say “yeah, somebody has to shoo those sharks away when the other ones are busy; this are their voyagers”.

We know Kirk did the paperwork for the nebula/virus (I can’t recall exactly) that made people act drunk, tho. Might have done it while still under the effects of it.

He delegates the log.

It’s not not a euphemism.

He just scribbled on the pad while flirting with the yeoman.

90% of the tablet notes he hands back to the yeoman are: “We’re fine…everything’s fine here…how are you? Sexy wink emoji”

If you think of what Data says as the output from an LLM, this tracks. It’s even funnier if you accept that everyone knows and understands that data hallucinates his knowledge sometimes, but he still proves to generally be a good officer.

I’m sure this has other lore implications that invalidate it.

I hate that I can hear Lore saying “…because of the implication.”

I’m printing this out and posting it in our ops room.

You have an ops room? Well, now you have to violate opsec and tell us more.

Just a water treatment plant. Nothing too exciting, but this is very applicable since we have an ops log which everybody is supposed to utilize so the incoming shift knows what’s going on but it’s maybe used 50% as often as it should be.

Hey, that’s exciting! Without you guys, the water would taste like shit. Like it probably does on Voyager.
