Lemmy-like platform. But looks like they haven’t implemented ActivityPub yet.

I don’t know why these platforms think they’ll ever take off without even implementing federation. It’s 2023!

I heard they have some piracy communities, so that’s reason enough for most admin

They also seem to want to replace moderators with AI and even bought a company that does so. Weird, and probably easy to abuse. Wouldn’t trust.

Remember Digg? It’s like that except it’s mostly bots.

It’s a website where bots talk to each other and posts links from all over the internet in order to scam corporations out of ad revenue.

Dead Internet theory personified.

A centralized, proprietary alternative to Lemmy.

I’m just passing along the message. Communicate directly with the person responsible on Mastodon.

Eventually it was bound to happen. Still sad to see mods getting removed to make way for more Spez friendly replacements

Is there a Mastodon alternative?

Mastodon and Lemmy don’t have great interoperability. They use the ActivityPub protocol in ways that are not compatible with each other.

You’re right, they’re pretty different, though you can post from Mastodon to Lemmy I don’t know if you can do the reverse.
As others have said Firefish is a better fit, also Misskey is nice (long live Ai chan!)

There are so many I lost count:

  • Pleroma
  • Misskey
  • Friendica
  • Firefish
  • Akkoma

And perhaps many more. Heck, even Kbin has microblogging support.

Closest thing is !mobiledev@programming.dev currently, I’ve just reached out to one of the iOSProgramming mods about if they want to set up here

Yeah this is the best spot atm in the instance, its a catchall community for programming things in the instance. The ios dev community is currently going through the community request process and then this can be crossposted into there
