It’s not really about the name, people are just too lazy to switch app and they don’t care about the greedy Reddit’s CEO trying to make money in every possible way. Last thing I read about him was his idea to put some subreddits behind a paywall.

I was still using the Reddit app but with some tweaks installed on iOS to block ads, otherwise every app that it’s full of ads it’s just unusable.

Twitter has been turned into a dumpster fire and people are still using it because of convenience, the same applies to Reddit.

I left Reddit not just because of the CEO but also because of the awful app they forced their users to use full of ads.

Let’s hope more people will join the fediverse so we can all stop feeding our data to these greedy companies.

I started to learn OpenGL a few months ago and it is the recommended library to learn because most of the steps in the pipeline are already managed by OpenGL itself. You still need to code some steps but nothing too complicate, even to render a basic triangle in Vulkan is cumbersome so at the same time is easier to screw up and then understanding the root cause in the pipeline since you have to do a lot of stuff by yourself.

Google is fighting a war that it can’t win, people in general had enough of all these ads.

Whenever I can, I use a DNS or an adblocker or an open source app that it doesn’t track his users.

I will never understand if some people are rich or simply stupid to buy a new phone every year, especially iphones since there is almost to nothing in terms of upgrades to the hardware.

I don’t think it will go down the same path as Twitter, since Bluesky is open source and available on Github other devs will have the possibility to improve it or create a better version of it but with the more users joining it might necessary to monetize it to better cover the costs. I would love to see everyone switching to the Fediverse but it’s not very intuitive for the average end user with the instances and the fact that you need to target a user and an instance to follow it

what do you mean by incomplete subset ? The code is available on Github and can be compiled

can you please be more specific ? What proprietary parts you found ? Did you read the code ? Again code is open source and anyone can read it and modify it, there is no proprietary, the license used is MIT not another weird license that limit the code from being used for other purposes like commercial stuff
