Dark City (1998) could definitely fit the bill, it has so many unique ideas for that time in film and you can see there’s of all sorts of future sci-fi movies in it from the matrix to inception, it’s a very visually ugly movie and the acting is subpar but as a premise it’s super interesting. Generally I think remakes are a waste of time and money but I’d love to see this movie with a proper budget and modern technology

Why would she be fired for doing what she was told? The fact she wasn’t fired tells you everything you need to know

I’ll let my transplant team know it wasn’t new lungs I needed, and three people’s worth of blood and six months in ICU and three weeks on ECMO, it was just light I was lacking… silly me!

Power usage is actually going to be one of the big things that stands in the way of AI advances because AI requires obscene amounts of power. I’ve heard numbers like every query on an AI is equally to gallons and gallons of CO2 just being poured into the atmosphere. It’s extremely inefficient. If you’ve seen claims about EVs messing up the power grid understand it’s actually AI doing that and they’re trying to put the burden on consumers as always, same as all other green initiatives, it’s not the companies that are polluting that’s the problem but individuals, which is obviously not true

He was put in that position to kill the FBI, the notoriously right wing institution has been engineering its own destruction and now the bill is due… they loved sewing, guess they’re not looking forward to the reaping

And he will never ever actually try to find or figure out the answer to his own question, just wait to be told what to think

This is what I’ve been saying, building factories is already an expensive and time consuming process, then you slap high prices on everything you need to make a factory work it’s going to be out of reach for basically anyone and the few who can afford it likely wouldn’t anyway because like this describes it’s not fiscally responsible but also the US is in decline why would you be putting an enormous investment into a wildly unstable system? If you want manufacturing in the US building factories needs to be reasonable price wise and you need consumers with the funds to do the consuming, neither of which can be delivered now

I have cystic fibrosis, it’s a genetic disease and my lungs are (were, I got a new set) especially impacted, I thought COVID could possibly change the world for the better for people like me, improved access via remote work or telehealth etc. that people would be more reasonable and understanding to those with lung disease, that the medical sector would start looking more heavily into lung health, lung rehabilitation, the issues around lung disease and immune-disregulation etc. but really very little has happened and there’s been no significant permanent changes and people chose to keep denying illness and disability exist… I think the virus of the trump presidency running through the US will have the same negative effect where a lot of people die and not much else happens

Seattle PD literally had to be partially taken over by the federal government because it was so corrupt and would not curb its officers… this is going to be VERY problematic in Seattle and surrounding areas.
